Wood cogeneration plants

The universal wood gasification CHP manual in use for Flux-i Biopower 15 kW_e

1) Ecological interests in wood cogeneration or combined heat and power with wood cogeneration different concepts are linked: combined heat and power, decentralized energy supply and electricity generating heating systems.

All terms are intended as meaning that the step from traditional "separate generation" of energy for "combined heat and power" must be gone from wood.

Because whenever another is to be obtained from a form of energy, this will not work without losses.

1.1) Different kinds of gas CHPs:

Separate generation of energy In separate production of electricity and heat in the power plant electrical energy is generated, this creates unwanted heat.

Seldom this thermal energy is used symbolically for this are the large cooling towers of power plants. Only 34% of the fuel used is converted into electrical energy.

1.2) wood gasification CHP:

combined generation In contrast to separate generation is generated in combined heat and power from wood or biofuels over 90% usable energy.

Especially located in Bavaria and Austria demand for heat and electricity usually in the same periods, this also applies to Bavarian hotel facilities, Bavarian dormitories and Bavarian commercial properties with process heat demand.

Taking into account that the existing fossil fuel reserves are limited, it is consequently this as sparingly to conclude as possible to use.

1.3) CHP fuel

  • Depending various fuels are available from the prime mover of a CHP plant.

  • Heating oil / diesel over the past 50 years a large number of oil boilers was built in Germany.

  • For this purpose, an appropriate infrastructure has developed, which is necessary for a stable supply.

  • The motors usually come from proven diesel engine series by experienced engine manufacturers.

  • Diesel engines as CHPs are very unpopular, since fossil fuel is used.

  • (Wood) gas engines in the recent years, the natural gas networks were increasingly expanded, so that almost every household has gas available in urban areas. Motors are working based on natural gas to operate normally with LPG.

  • Few CHP work with specially developed gas engines, usually modified 4- stroke engines are used.

  • When using natural gas can be dispensed with storage capacities.

  • When using liquid gas, it is advisable to operate a gas meter with Miettank and consumption billing.

Gas CHP are on the technically highest level, which is reflected particularly in the maintenance again.

In addition, says the low emissions gas engines.
